How landscape can exercise an influence. The first series: On Hard Ground, raises the issue of tradition in landscape by questioning the iconography or tradition of 'place'. This series addresses the practice and conceptual concerns within the lineage of the 'Maine Landscape'; images that do less to interpret
and more to interrupt the bucolic promise. On Hard Ground reveals the tentative nature between 'man' and the environment. The impact 'man' has on the environment and the defining influence it has over 'man'. I focus these printed impressions on the subtleties inherent in this disharmony in balance.
